Diversity of Philippines

While the Philippines is known for its extensive beaches, majestic volcanos, and high-tech cities like Manilla, the Philippines is one of the most diverse countries in terms of nature, culture as well as unique experiences. Being a collection of 7000 islands, this country will provide you with an experience like no other. While many people just do beach hopping and see places nearby Manila, here are some unique destinations and experiences that you can enjoy in the Philippines to make your trip more memorable.

1. Dinner At San Pablo City

San Pablo Waterfall Restaurant is one of the most unique experiences to have in the Philippines. This restaurant is located on the base of a waterfall. Diners can enjoy the beautiful scenery as well as the vibe. This eatery is located at the palatial Villa Escudero resort plantation. The Labassin waterfall is mellow and artificial and adds beautifully to the charming environment.

The guests are supposed to sit at the bamboo tables barefoot, while the water strokes at the feet gently. The menu is generally a Kamayan-style buffet including fish, barbecued meats, rice, and fresh fruits. The uniqueness of the experience is quite enjoyable and calming.

2. Tarsier & Wildlife Sanctuary

The sanctuary in Corella, in Bohol is an eco-tourism destination and if you are an animal enthusiast and want to spot the endangered Tarsier species that have been protected and revived in this sanctuary, you must visit this protected forest area.

This native primate has googly eyes and can be spotted among the tree branches here. The species found in Bohol is a particularly small and oldest species among primates and hence this sanctuary is a must-visit for environment and biodiversity enthusiasts. The entrance fee for the sanctuary is 80 PHP. The entrance timings are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

3. Trailing Upto Vulcan Point on Volcano Island

Vulcan Point is located within the volcano island, which is an island inside the crater lake in the Philippines. This place, even though less known, is quite the favorite path of hikers, especially the Spanish trails which climb to the very top.

There are a number of hiking trails around the volcano island. Taal Volcano is near Tagaytay, and you can get some buses to the ferry stations. You can get boats there. If you are going on a hiking trip there, go in a group and take a guide.

4. Visiting Sagada Points:

Sagada Point is known for its unique features, and you won’t be able to guess what they are for. Sagada points have hanging coffins on limestone cliffs and the burial place is ancient. The hanging of coffins up in the mountains was practiced in the belief that it brought them closer to heaven.

If you are willing to visit the place, you have to get to the Luzon island, and renting a car is the best option to reach there.

5. Exploring Hidden Beach, in El Nido:

If you want to explore a beautiful beach just out of movies, El Nido might just be the one spot in Palawan you are in for a treat. Palawan is home to one of the seven natural wonders in the world. The beautiful jungles, caves, and the beach in El Nido come out of nowhere after you enter the caves. Palawan has limestone caves,

6. Visiting the Ruins of Talisay

Ruins Of Talisay
Ruins Of Talisay

The Ruins of Talisay, located in Negros Occidental, Philippines, offer visitors a glimpse into the grand architecture and romantic history of the early 20th century. This striking structure, often called the “Taj Mahal of Negros,” is the skeletal remains of a mansion built by sugar baron Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson in memory of his Portuguese wife.

The Italianate-style mansion, constructed in the 1900s, was intentionally burned during World War II to prevent Japanese forces from using it as a headquarters. Today, its weathered coral stone walls and elegant arched windows stand as a hauntingly beautiful testament to the past, surrounded by manicured gardens.

Visitors can explore the grounds, learn about the mansion’s history, and enjoy the picturesque sunset views that have made it a popular destination for both tourists and locals alike.

7. Roam The Kayangan Lake & Wonder About the Limestone

Kayangan Lake
Kayangan Lake

One of the main attractions in Coron island is the Kayangan Lake and the view pf this lake is unlike any other. Coron is one of the municipalities in Palawan. When you go to Coton, you will find accommodation and shops in the town and to visit the lake you will have to go to the island.

Kayangan Lake is the true jewel of the island. You have to rent a boat to go through the jungle-covered river and get down on the shore. And you have to hike up just a few steps to get to Coron Cove and see the Kayangan lake in full glory. It’s beautiful water and the view from the height makes it one of a kind.

8. Banaue Rice Terrace Visiting

Banaue Rice Terrace

The banaue rice terrace is considered one of the national treasures of the Philippines. The banaue rice terrace is the most beautiful and lush green because of the traditional method of step farming. This cultural treasure is free from any genetically modified crop.

Spring (April to May) and fall (October to November) are harvest times and provide you with the best view. If you plan to visit Banaue, you can plan your trip by combining Banaue with Batad, or Sagada. You can also have a great time if you plan a road trip from Manila.

In summary, the Philippines provides a wide range of unforgettable experiences that surpass the usual beach resorts and city visits. From dining beneath a waterfall in San Pablo City to exploring the ancient hanging coffins of Sagada, travelers will find no shortage of extraordinary adventures to enjoy. Nature lovers can spot endangered tarsiers in Bohol or hike the volcanic landscapes of Taal.

Those looking for hidden gems will find unforgettable escapes in the quiet beaches of El Nido and the pristine waters of Kayangan Lake in Coron. History buffs will find the haunting beauty of the Ruins of Talisay, while culture seekers will find the awe-inspiring ancient rice terraces of Banaue. These unique experiences highlight the Philippines’ rich cultural heritage, breathtaking natural beauty, and rich cultural legacy.
