I needed a break from my everyday hectic life but couldn’t decide on the place that I should visit. I couldn’t plan a long trip, so I decided to go on a day trip with my family. I had heard a lot about Tanjung Sepat and it’s tourist attractions previously, so I though why should I not give it a try?
And honestly, Tanjung Sepat didn’t disappoint me. And I am not saying this only based on my experience. I am saying this because my daughter enjoyed a lot there too!
Tanjung Sepat, a small seaside fishing village is famous for its seafood cuisine and traditional coffee. Despite of being a small village, it is a great place to go for a day trip. The village doesn’t have much to offer as any other tourist place in Malaysia, but a Tanjung Sepat day trip can be a beautiful escape from your busy life.
Most people living in this small town are Chinese and you will absolutely love their hospitality. The welcoming behavior of the Chinese locals is another reason for tourists to visit the place. And this is one reason why I might visit Tanjung Sepat again. Keep on reading and you will know about the other reasons too.

The Best 12 Things to Do in Tanjung Sepat
1. Visit Batu Laut
Batu Laut is the most famous beach in Tanjung Sepat. The coastline of the beach is filled with mangrove swamps, grey mud and soft sand. It has a sleepy atmosphere as there aren’t many tourists. Honestly, Batu Laut beach isn’t stunning and picturesque compared to the other beaches. However, the gloomy scene set due to the combination of dead trees and mangrove trees is beautiful.

2. Visit these two places Dataran Tanjong and Lovers Bridge
Dataran Tanjong is one of the most-visited places in Tanjung Sepat. It is mainly popular because of the Lovers Bridge. The bridge was broken down back in 2013 and renovated last year. So, due to recent renovation, the place looks immaculate.
You can enjoy the nice breeze and the beautiful view from the Lovers Bridge. And I think the renovated Lovers Bridge is more beautiful than the previous one.
Location: 1124, Jalan Sekolah, Pekan Tanjung Sepat, 42800 Tanjong Sepat, Selangor
3. Visit Kampung Orang Asli Village @ Pantai Cunang
The Batu Laut beach of Tanjung Sepat gains the interest of most of the tourists, but I’d say that Pantai Cunang is the beach that deserves the most attention. To be honest, the Batu Laut Beach seemed too gloomy to me. And for anyone like me who doesn’t like gloomy stuff, should take a stroll around Pantai Cunang instead.
Pantai Cunang is a white sand beach in Tanjung Sepat, and no other beach in Selangor has such white sands. The beach is surrounded by mangrove trees and casuarina pine trees, providing shades to the beach-goers.
Kampung Orang Asli is the adjacent village to the Pantai Cunang beach. It is an aboriginal people’s village. Pantai Cunang is beautifully maintained by the Mah Meri orang Asli living in this village. They keep the beach clean by collecting plastic bottles, coconut shells, tyres, etc., from the beach and turning them into decorative materials.
I am a big fan of handicrafts. So I was quite impressed by the beautiful and creative decorative materials made by the locals. You can count my love for these these handicrafts as another reason of planning a day trip to Tanjung Sepat.
And I believe, when you will take a look at the mesmerizing beach and the beautiful handicrafts by the Mah Meri, only then you will realize why the Pantai Cunang Beach is better than the Batu Laut beach.

4. Stay @ Ganofarm Homestay
Other than being a homestay, Ganofarm Homestay is the first mushroom farm in Tanjung Sepat. It is a four-storey building with 32 rooms, 2 multi-purpose halls, a meeting room, a common utility kitchen with kitchen facilities, a barbecue area, and a mushroom-viewing corridor.
Ganofarm Homestay is located near a well-maintained, natural, sandy, and mangrove-tree surrounded beach. There’s a wooden bridge linking the homestay to the seaside that offers spectacular views of sunset and sunrise.

5. Visit Jeti Persatuan Nelayan
Jeti Persatuan Nelayan is a jetty for fisheries. The area has pleasant scenery, and it is a good place for a walk. There are some shops around the place from where you can buy fresh fish at a reasonable price. Though I didn’t buy any fish from there, but I am definitely gonna do that on my next Tanjung Sepat day trip.

6. Have fun @ Kuan Wellness Eco Park
The unique bird’s nest ecology park, Kuan Wellness Eco Park, is a great place to observe beautiful swiftlets in their natural habitat. Other than a unique theme, this park has a beautiful landscape that includes a fountain. My daughter enjoyed the most here.
The owners are on a mission to make it the most coveted eco-tourism destination in the country, but for that, they have to make a lot of improvements. However, I have to agree that they are doing an excellent job for birdnest research and production. You can spend some time walking around and observing the swiftlets or go to the Smoke-free Eco Cafe and enjoy the taste of their high-quality bird’s nest soup.

The ice cream is cheaper than this price and has a very light taste of dragon fruit. It is also not that sweet, so you can give it a try. You can also buy dragon fruits from the farm at a very low price.

8. Ah Hock Tanjung Sepat Bak Kut Teh (Non Halal)
I already said earlier that Tanjung Sepat is famous for its seafood. And the most famous seafood restaurant in the area is Ah Hock Seafood Bak Kut Teh. The restaurant serves a pot of bak kut teh filled with prawns, fish fillet, squid, and pork belly. Besides the Bak Kut Teh, there are a few other dishes on the menu.
For two people the cost of food will be around RM 50, which is really affordable. Unfortunately, the restaurant is non-halal and inconvenient for Muslims. If you are a Muslim I have written about some of the halal restaurants in Tanjung Sepat below, so keep on reading.

9. Qing Ren Qiao Local Product Shop
The Qing Ren Qiao Local Product Shop is a great place to click some nice pictures. The beautiful decorating products of the shop are highly impressive. Right near the shop, you will see the Tanjung Sepat Twin Tower. Don’t expect it to be anything like the Petronas Twin Tower.
The Tanjung Sepat Twin Tower is actually made by stacking up the traditional wine jars. You will also see some beautiful wall murals and a wishing well near the Qing Ren Qiao Local Product Shop.
Location: Jalan Senangin 1, Tanjung Sepat, Selangor
10. Joo Fa Trading
Joo Fa Trading is said to be one of the most famous coffee manufacturers in Tanjung Sepat. You can go on a full tour of the coffee roasting and grinding process with the owner of the place. Entering the alleyway of Joo Fa Trading, you will be so much seduced by the aroma of coffee that you won’t be able to resist entering the house where the main process of coffee manufacturing takes place.
If you are a coffee-lover, Joo Fa Trading is a must-visit on your Tanjung Sepat day trip. And even if you aren’t a coffee lover, once you smell the aroma of coffee from this place, you will definitely turn into a coffee lover. Also, don’t forget to buy coffee powder here. You can even try their coffee on-spot.

11. Mr Black Hand-made Pau
Mr Black Handmade Pau serves one of the best pau in Tanjung Sepat. So, while you are on a Tanjung Sepat day trip, make sure to buy some pau from this place. The shop is clean, comfortable, old-town style, and has a live kitchen. So, you can see the making process while enjoying the delicious pau.
They have a variety of pau on the menu, so you can choose whichever you like. Mr Black Hand-made Pau is most famous for its Golden Pau. However, for a unique taste, you can order Chicken Rice Wine Pau. Every pau costs less than RM 5, so there’s no reason for not trying one out. But again, Mr Black Hand-made Pau is non-Halal as the dish is made of pork meat.

12. Perniagaan Pau Hai Yew Heng
Hai Yew Heng is another famous restaurant in Tanjung Sepat that serves pau. But the quality of the pau served in this restaurant is not as good as that of Mr Black Hand-made Pau. However, the shop always remains filled with patrons. I guess it is famous not because of the quality of the pau rather because of the fact that it was established around 40 years ago. Hai Yew Heng shop sells pau with five types of filling, and the price of pau is less than RM 4.

How To Reach Tanjung Sepat from KL
By car: Tanjung Sepat is at a one and a half hour driving distance from Kuala Lumpur. So, I think that driving is the best option when you are on a Tanjung Sepat day trip. If driving seems tiring to you, you can book a taxi. I drove from Shah Alam to Tanjung Sepat and it took me around 1 and half hours to reach the place.
By Bus: From KL Sentral, Aerobus offers KL International Airport T2 bus services. The bus leaves every 15 minutes and will reach the airport within 1 hour. From KL International Airport T2, you can hire a taxi. Several taxi operators service this route. You will reach Tanjung Sepat by taxi from the airport within 48 minutes or so.
Another bus service named Cityliner will take you from Pasar Seni to Banting Bus Terminal. It leaves from Pasar Seni hourly and will take you to Banting Bus Terminal within 2 hours. You can take a taxi from the bus terminal and expect to reach Tanjung Sepat within 30 minutes.
If you ask me which the best option is to reach Tanjung Sepat from KL, I would say that you should choose to drive. It is the cheapest way to reach Tanjung Sepat and requires the shortest amount of time. Getting on a Cityliner bus from Pasar Seni to Banting Bus Terminal is the second cheapest option, but it requires a long time.
Other transportation methods are much more costly, in my opinion. But if you are going there with your family, just like me, you should drive or hire a taxi. No matter whichever transportation method you choose, you should leave early so that you can make the most out of your Tanjung Sepat day trip.
