The bus is the cheapest transport between Singapore and Malaysia that fits everyone’s budget. And the route is so popular that you’ll get countless bus services here. Even many bus operators offer special travel trips from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur on the high demand of passengers.

Here is the list of popular bus operators that provide their services on the route between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

  • Starmart Express

Stations & stops.

TBS

From Singapore, you need to catch your bus from Golden Mile Complex as it is the most convenient and easily accessible bus station in Singapore. This bus station has nearly all bus companies’ offices that operate services on Singapore to Kuala Lumpur route.

As a stop station, you can choose either Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) or KL Sentral in Kuala Lumpur. Though Terminal Bersepadu Selatan bus station is not located in the city center, it will give you top facilities and an airport like environment. On the contrary, KL Sentral will give you direct access to the city.

The average time of this bus trip from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur is 4 to 5 hours. However, sometimes it takes 7 hours due to heavy traffic.

And the cost of a bus ticket can be as low as S$ 15.00 to S$ 40.00, which is really affordable for every passenger.

How to buy a bus ticket? (Online & offline)

Buying a bus ticket is not something that could be bothering. As online and offline, both options are available to book your ticket.

ONLINE

Powered by 12Go system

Online purchasing is more convenient and hassle-free as you don’t have to wait in a crowd. Moreover, some websites give such alluring sales on ticket prices that you can’t resist.

And if you don’t know from which website you can book a bus ticket, then I would suggest 12GoAsia, which I always prefer as it offers the most affordable price on any ticket.

If you don’t like online purchasing and want to buy tickets on the spot, you can always have an offline purchasing option. Just go to the Golden Mile Complex, where you’ll get several bus companies selling their tickets.

And if you manage to reach the bus station earlier, you can get on any bus that is departing for Kuala Lumpur. Because most of the buses that serve on the route from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur are not full so you can fit there easily.

Things you should know before you make your bus trip.

As you are crossing the border of Singapore and Malaysia, there are some protocols and restrictions that you must follow.

Make sure you have your passport with you, and the passport should be valid.

If your nationality requires a visa to enter Malaysia, then you must prepare your visa before departure.

Make sure you convert your S$ (Singapore dollar) into MYR (Malaysian ringgit).

At the Malaysian border, you may be asked to give your fingerprint, and at the same time, they will scan all of your luggage for security purposes.

Things you can do after arriving in KL

  1. Depending on your travel purpose, you can do numerous things in Kuala Lumpur. But after a long journey, the first thing that I would suggest is to take a cup of coffee for refreshment.
  2. Kuala Lumpur has some renewed Mamak stalls that will offer you delicious Malay food as a meal. So, you can satisfy your hunger here.
  3. Now, the shopping malls and markets that are placed here and there in Kuala Lumpur will make you do some shopping for sure!
  4. And you certainly can’t resist the attractions of KL such as KL Tower, Petronas twin towers, Bukit Bintang, and so on.

Pros & cons of bus travel

As we mentioned before, the pros of bus travel are that it is cheap and accessible.

But it doesn’t offer you the best transport service. You might have to wait for hours at the bus station for your expected bus.

And if you are stuck in heavy traffic during the travel, the journey would become more troublesome.

Moreover, often the bus gets cancelled, and they will put you on the later bus, which is a complete waste of time.
